of all charges live in her home but that's not likely because president obama signed an act last month prohibiting the u.s. to pay for relocation of detainees. they did not get the five votes needed to pass. the f.b.i. has been aslizing a suspicious substance. it forced evacuation at the medical center in palo alto just after 1:00 yesterday afternoon. it will remain closed until authorities complete their investigation. paramedics took the employee who opened the envelope to the hospital after he reported feeling nauseous. doctors say his illness was not related to the substance and may have been caused by anxiety. >> oakland city attorneys are set to return to court today to argue for an injunction against the city's most violent gang. they will hear evidence to see if the city can enforce members of the gang from associating in fruitdale district. city attorney john russo says the gang intimidates residents, vandlizes neighbors and pushes crimes into surrounding neighborhoods and unfairly targets minorities. >> does that storm have everything you can watch. >> i feel lucky you

news for bay area transportation president obama's new budget. it sets aside money for san francisco and for bart. terry mcsweeney is live to explain. which projects are we talking about? >> we're talking about the central subway project here in san francisco and bart down the south bay. really good news for those two projects. there's some cuts in this budget but also some money for transportation and public works. you're going to be seeing scenes like this for a while. there's going to be federal dollars, the $1.6 billion central subway project. take a look when the subway links up to chinatown. this is muni animation of underground and aboveground scenes. the president's budget has $200 million for it in this project. the budget has money for continuing. this is causing disruptions here in san francisco on stockton where i am, on sutter to market street. it opens in 2018. let's take a look at project number two included in the budget. that is bart to san jose. ground breaking in settlement for the one spring station in fremont. the federal transportation administration approved $1

just returned from a year in the obama administration. he said the arab style democracy seen in iraq could be the templa template. >> you could have democratic oriented people but they themselves could be overthrown by another autocrat, the army or by somebody else. >> professor knox also pointed out that chaos makes it easier for extremists groups take over and that's a big concern for the u.s. >> well, today is the start of the lunar new year. it is the year 4709, year of the rabbit. check it out. fireworks lit up the sky in cities throughout mainland china, hong kong and taiwan. people there already observing the new year in their families. many are visiting temples to pray for good fortune. the celebration continues for two weeks. here in the bay area it ends with the annual lunar new year parade in san francisco on february 19th. but there are a lot of other community events on the side. redwood city is kicking off its inaugural celebration, a little festival there. tons of things going on. >> lots to do. but the grabbnddaddy is here in the city. fun for the kids to watch.
